The Warriors have announced a new agreement with 95.7 The Game in which Warriors regular season and playoff games will now be broadcast on that station.
The Warriors have spent more than three decades on KNBR 680, but are now moving to the FM frequency.
The Warriors are now one of a dozen NBA teams that conducts their radio broadcast over the FM frequency.
Warriors radio play-by-play commentator Tim Roye will still broadcast the games despite the change of station.
Color commentator Tom Tolbert wasn’t mentioned in the official press release. Tolbert hosts an afternoon show on KNBR, so maybe there’s contractual reasons that he apparently isn’t going to be joining Roye.
The official statement also doesn’t specify how many years the agreement is for, only saying that it is a multi-year agreement.
Big changes are certainly going to be coming this season for the Warriors beyond just what radio station broadcasts their games.
Kevin Durant joining the team has elicited strong responses around the league from both fans as well as players.
One of his most vocal defenders has been DeAndre Jordan, who was his teammate on the USA squad that recently won gold at the Rio Olympics.
What makes the friendship even more interesting is that Jordan is a star on the Clippers, who might be the Warriors’ most hated rival right now.
The friends celebrated their gold medal poolside in Greece after the Olympics concluded, but Jordan has adamantly said that he’s going to go back to hating the Warriors once the regular season starts.
