LeBron James recently gave an interview with “Open Run” podcast where he offered some illuminating insight on his goals and past accomplishments.
Arguably the main takeaway from the interview was his desire to one day own an NBA team, but he discussed the Warriors a lot, both directly and indirectly.
He talked about how he was able to run down Andre Iguodala and block his shot in the final couple minutes of game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals.
He credited J.R. Smith with impeding Iguodala just enough to allow him to catch up and pin his shot off the backboard.
James also said that he was initially fearful that the refs were going to call goaltending on it, but the replays indicated that it was a clean block.
He also offered his opinion on star players congregating in order to try to win championships, presumably referring to Kevin Durant joining the Warriors.
James signed with the Heat back in 2010 to play alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, so he can relate to what Durant has gone through this offseason.
James sees no problem with it, commending players for wanting to surround themselves with successful pieces in order to ensure collective prosperity of a team.
The Warriors and Cavaliers have met in the NBA Finals two years in a row, and a contentious rivalry is brewing between the two.
With Durant leaving the Thunder to join the Warriors and the unfortunate incident between Draymond Green and Steven Adams in the Western Conference Finals, the Warriors also find themselves immersed in quite a rivalry with the Thunder.
Adams gave a funny interview recently about the whole situation, indicating that he sustained no lingering injuries from the episode.
