Kevin Durant is secure in his decision to join the Warriors, and that’s all that should matter. However, the rest of the league still has strong reactions to the choice.
Jae Crowder was put off by Durant joining a “super team,” and mad that the Celtics included in their pitch their defensive strategy to contain the Warriors, only to have Durant end up joining them.
DeAndre Jordan can relate to controversy surrounding switching teams, having reneged on signing with the Mavericks to return to the Clippers last year. He says that Durant just needs to worry about making the right decision for himself, and not concern himself with any external opinions.
Jordan handled his free agency situation extremely poorly last season, not notifying the Mavericks in a timely manner of having a change of heart. Conversely, Durant handled his decision with the utmost respect to all teams involved, so he especially doesn’t have anything to apologize for.
This also comes with the news that apparently Durant and Russell Westbrook are no longer friends after Durant’s decision to go to the Warriors.
A true friend would’ve supported Durant doing what he thought was the best course of action regarding personal growth. It sounds Like Westbrook doesn’t care about what’s best for his “friend,” instead worrying about how it will affect his own future.
