The Golden State Warriors have been extremely fun to watch this season. They keep winning and they are playing a beautiful brand of basketball. You can’t miss any part of the game because they constantly have you at the edge of your seat.
As if that wasn’t enough entertainment for Dubs fans, according to Nellie Andreeva of Deadline.com, the Warriors will be featured in an upcoming comedic pilot that will air on ABC in the near future:
ABC, the broadcast home of NBA games, is expanding its relationship with the league to the scripted side with a single-camera comedy, which has received a put pilot commitment. The project, executive produced by The Neighbors and Galavant creator Dan Fogelman, Mandalay Sports Media’s Peter Guber & Mike Tollin, and Kapital Entertainment’s Aaron Kaplan, is being done with the cooperation of the NBA and its team Golden State Warriors, co-owned by Guber
Peter Guber is a very successful business man and he was able to fuse sports with entertainment in order to make this show. The Warriors will be able to play themselves on the show, thanks to the NBA being on board. It obviously helps that Guber is a co-owner of the Warriors, otherwise it’s unlikely the Warriors and the NBA agree to this partnership.
Andreeva goes on to explain the premise of the show and it will be centered around an international player and his translator:
Written/executive produced by Casey Johnson and David Windsor (Trophy Wife), the untitled half-hour, from ABC Studios, is a buddy comedy set in the world of the NBA about a rookie who doesn’t speak English and a translator who doesn’t speak basketball. “It’s basically the international Odd Couple set in the NBA,” Fogelman said.
Quite an interesting concept and something that should have all NBA fans excited. Who doesn’t love a good laugh? You get the best of both worlds, basketball and comedy. Everyone will be looking forward to the cameos from the Splash Brothers and Draymond Green, it should be fun to watch.
