After the Denver Nuggets selected Emmanuel Mudiay, Ty Lawson knew his time with the franchise was finished. Lawson was then traded to the Houston Rockets to team up with Dwight Howard and James Harden.
Now reloaded, the Rockets are looking to knock off the team that eliminated them in the Western Conference Finals. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Lawson will look to be a threat against Curry, making him less energetic and potent on the offensive end.
“Steph Curry needed someone to go back at him,” Lawson told Yahoo Sports. “I thought Steph was just chillin’ on defense – and then going crazy on offense. He looked like he was just putting shots up and not working so much on the defensive end. He would just come down and hit three or four 3s. He can shoot when he’s got his legs under him.”
“I’m not saying, ‘Oh, I’m going to stop Steph,’ but just make him work harder at the other end. I saw that in the Cavs series too. “He wasn’t really working at the other end.”
Undoubtedly, Lawson makes the Rockets a better contender. Against the Cavs, Curry faced a pesty Matthew Dellavedova whose main focus was to chase Curry as Kyrie Irving was finished after fracturing his knee cap. Critics have always doubted the Warriors, and calling the championship a fluke.
Steph has always carried an “offense” only title. Last season, he showed that wasn’t true. This season, naysayers and doubters will continue to fuel Steph to becoming better. A few weeks ago, CoachUp and Steph released a video of the MVP reading the pre-draft scouting reports. All the negative comments don’t seem too correct now.
