The Golden State Warriors drafted Nemanja Nedovic hoping he would eventually become Steph Curry’s backup. Injuries were a problem for Nedovic in his rookie campaign, which prevented him from seeing consistent time on the floor.

Nedovic was looking forward to his second season with the Warriors, he wanted an opportunity to prove his worth. According to Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group, Nedovic won’t get that opportunity after being waived by the Warriors:
The Warriors waived guard Nemanja Nedovic on Tuesday, and the team is working with its 2013 first-round pick to facilitate a change of scenery that could benefit both sides, according to a source close to situation.
The Warriors could recover some of the $1.1 million salary owed to Nedovic this season if they buy out his contract and the Serbia native lands with one of the European teams reportedly interested in him.
Nedovic actually had a good showing in the pre-season, he averaged 9.2 points per game and showed he was finally healthy. He is still a very explosive player, but needs playing time to develop and continue growing as a basketball player.
The Warriors just signed Klay Thompson to a big extension and Draymond Green is next in line to get paid. Some believe the Warriors might not have enough money to re-sign Green. This move is likely to save as much money as possible, unfortunately Nedovic never got a real shot to prove himself.
