Kerr Warriors1

The Golden State Warriors must quickly adjust to a new head coach after a couple successful seasons under Mark Jackson. Steve Kerr has yet to name a coaching staff to accompany him in the Bay Area and that should be a priority for the first year head coach. The Warriors are hoping to surround him with enough experience in order to help Kerr have a smooth transition.

With no prior coaching experience, Kerr will have to learn on the job and hopefully his years of basketball knowledge will help him in his first year with the Warriors. According to Monte Poole of CSNBayArea.com, Kerr will coach the Warriors summer league team in Las Vegas:

As Steve Kerr continues to interview candidates in hopes of assembling a staff in the coming weeks, the new Warriors coach has made one significant decision.

He will coach the Warriors Summer League team in Las Vegas next month.

While it is unusual for the head coach to actually manage the sidelines in the NBA Summer League, Kerr could definitely use the practice. Most summer league teams are formed with young players who are fighting for a roster spot, which will give Kerr a group of hungry players who will listen to his every word.

Hopefully the Warriors will have a full coaching staff by the start of the summer league, but at least Kerr will be gaining some valuable experience. The Warriors are expected to be one of the better teams in the Western Conference, but Kerr still has a lot of learning and growing to do. The Warriors Summer League team will give Kerr an opportunity to really test his coaching skills.
