The Golden State Warriors defeated the Portland Trail Blazers at the Moda Center 113-111. They got off to a fast start, but the Blazers made it a game and it was a tough one to close out. The Warriors were without the services of Stephen Curry, who was battling an illness.

While getting a road victory felt great, not all the focus was on the Warriors 41st victory of the season. It’s hard to ignore the changes that are happening in this country with the transition of power in the Oval Office. Most notably is President Donald Trump’s most recent executive order to deny entry to people from certain countries accross the globe, specifically places with heavy Muslim populations.

This has created a frenzy in the United States and the rest of the world. The executive order also prevents refugees from seeking asylum here in America, which has left many Americans protesting the ban accross the country.

Steve Kerr was asked about his thoughts on the whole ordeal. Anthony Slater of the Bay Area News Group captured Kerr’s response on video and this is what the coach had to say:

Strong words coming from Coach Kerr, who’s father lost his life due to terrorism. Kerr, unlike most of us can understand the need to fight terrorism, but even he doesn’t agree that this ban is the answer to our problems.

Whether you agree with Kerr’s comments, you have to respect him. He has first handedly dealt with the pain of losing a family member to terrorism and even he knows that this ban will not combat the people who are truly evil.

It’s a sensitive subject, but one that needs to be talked about.
