With the Golden State Warriors set to lock horns with the Cleveland Cavaliers for a second consecutive year in the NBA Finals, it is worth looking back at last years Warriors championship run.
In the first round, the Warriors swept the New Orleans Pelicans, moving on to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies in a hard fought 6 game series, and dismantled James Harden and the Houston Rockets in 5 games in the Western Conference Finals.
The Warriors met the Cavaliers in the Finals and quickly fell behind 2-1 to LeBron and company. Then the Warriors made a change, implementing their now famous small ball “Lineup of Death.”
The Warriors defeated the Cavs 4 straight times to win the series 4-2. This brought Oakland its first NBA title since the days of Rick Barry and Jamaal Wilkes in the mid 70’s.
Relive the magic:
This year, the Warriors be will looking to make it back-to-back titles and lay the foundation of the next great NBA dynasty.
The series with the Cavaliers begins Thursday night at 6 PM PT and games 1 and 2 will be played at Oracle Arena.
