This Warriors team is really deep and the Lakers got a taste of that on their home floor. The Warriors annihilated the Lakers last night and even though Kobe dropped 44 points, the Dubs still cruised to a 21 point victory.

One Warrior that keeps impressing his coaches is Marreese Speights. The big man is playing with a purpose and it has shown in the first 10 games of the season. According to Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group, his play as of late has guaranteed him the backup center role moving forward:
“He’s earned that backup role, and he’s going to play a lot for us,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.
Speights for now is playing ahead of Festus Ezeli, who did not play against the Nets on Thursday and appeared in the fourth quarter of blowout wins against Charlotte and the Lakers.
The Warriors had hoped Festus Ezeli would grow and develop into Andrew Bogut’s backup, but he is still working on getting 100 percent. Speights is healthy and has taken full advantage of his opportunity. Yesterday, he finished with 24 points and nine rebounds.
This gives Ezeli more time to fully recover and more importantly he can work on gaining more confidence as the season rolls along. Ezeli is a talented big man and it never hurts to have en excess of centers that can all contribute. This will allow Kerr to monitor Bogut’s minutes and assure he is healthy and rested for the postseason.
