This next week is bound to feel like an eternity. The Warriors have not had a break like this since after the All-Star game and it could not come at a better time.

The Warriors got dinged up against the Houston Rockets. First it was Curry falling to the ground in Game 4 and then Thompson got a knee to the side of the head in Game 5. Both of them escaped major injury, but this break will assure them the time they need to fully recover.

Curry has gone through the worst, but it’s Thompson who the team was worried about. First it was reported that he didn’t sustain a concussion, but then he developed concussion symptoms after the game. According to Sam Amick of USA Today, Thompson’s agent said his client did not suffer a concussion and cleared all the tests:

Thompson’s concussion situation has been a hot topic today. Many are criticizing the NBA and the Warriors for allowing Thompson to return to the game after getting that knee to the side of the face. Now, it looks like Thompson was not concussed after all, so maybe it’s time to move on.

Head injuries are a serious concern, but it’s not as common in basketball as it is in football. Thompson will be ready for Game 1 and the Warriors will need him. Four more wins and the journey is over.
