The NBA season is just kicking off with preseason but some players aren’t ready to let go of last season. While the Golden State Warriors handled some business by knocking off the Toronto Raptors in the first preseason game, James Harden still believes he deserved last season’s NBA MVP award.

According to Fran Blinebury of the NBA, Harden believes he has a credible case and is looking for vengeance:

“I know I was the MVP,” Harden said. “That’s 100 percent given all the things that happened last season.

“Credit the Golden State Warriors for an unbelievable year. They had an unbelievable team, coaching staff, everything.

“But that award means most valuable to your team. We finished second in the West, which nobody thought we were going to do at the beginning of the year even when everybody was healthy. We were near the top in having the most injuries. We won our division in a division where every single team made the playoffs.

“There’s so many factors. I led the league in total points scored, minutes played. Like I said, I’m not taking anything away from Steph, but I felt I deserved the Most Valuable Player. That stays with me.”

Harden must have forgotten that the Warriors were blowing out their opponents. Curry and many of the starters weren’t needed in the fourth because they earned their rest. Harden can say what he wants as he should feel pride in his craft, but there’s absolutely no denying that Stephen Curry was phenomenal.
The teams won’t have to wait long until they face one another. The Warriors will host the Rockets on October 15 for preseason while the Rockets will host the first regular season meeting on October 30. Until then, let’s just watch Steph be Steph and enjoy it.
