Good news for the Golden State Warriors has just come down the pipeline as it was learned that center Festus Ezeli could be back in a few days if everything goes according to plan. Ezeli has been out since late January with a knee issue, but it does appear that the big man is on his way back.
The Warriors will need Ezeli in the playoffs to matchup against other teams when they decide to play big, or even just to give Andrew Bogut some rest. Ezeli’s value to the team is pretty expansive, and he’s someone they will most certainly depend on during crucial moments in the postseason.

If Festus Ezeli can get through Golden State’s 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 scrimmages this week without issue, he could play as early as Friday against the Boston Celtics, according to Janie McCauley of the Associated Press. Before Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said that Ezeli — who has been sidelined since late January after left knee surgery — has been “coming along nicely.”
This is definitely fantastic news for all parties involved, especially Ezeli. He’s chomping at the bit to get back out there, but he does need to go through 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 scrimmages first in order to do so. With the playoffs just a couple of weeks away, it’s a perfect time for Ezeli to get back out on the court for good.
Festus is indeed valuable if he is on the court, but unfortunately that does not happen enough. He needs a sign that says “fragile” on his back instead of his name, or else he should wear a red cover shirt over his uni, like a QB so nobody hits him. He is likely to come back and hurt his knee or back in the playoffs.
