Brandon Rush’s return to the Golden State Warriors has generated some excitement amongst the fan base. Rush will be apart of a second unit that struggled to produce last season; but now the Warriors have now added Shaun Livingston and Rush to address those issues. While the acquisition of Rush is not the blockbuster deal that Warriors’ fans were expecting, the Warriors’ bench may no longer be a problem next season.

While Coach Kerr is focused on coaching the Warriors Summer League team, GM Bob Myers attended Rush’s workout for NBA teams in Las Vegas. According to Antonio Gonzalez of the Associated Press, Myers only needed 10 minutes to make his decision about Rush:
Bartelstein said Myers walked out of Rush’s recent workout for NBA teams after 10 minutes and said, “I’ve seen all I need to see.”

Before the Warriors signed Rush, many wondered if his health was going to be an issue. Myers must have really been impressed with Rush’s workout if he only needed to see 10 minutes to make a decision. Myers has been very aggressive in his time here with Golden State, but to think he only needed a short amount of time to make a decision on Rush should speak on how good Rush must have looked in his workout.
Rush has been a productive NBA player early in his career. He averaged about nine points in his first four seasons in the NBA. If Rush is able to remain on the floor, he could easily be the steal of the summer. A second unit that includes Draymond Green, Harrison Barnes, Livingston, and Rush could easily become one of the most potent and productive second units in the league.
While the acquisition of Rush does not come with much risk, Rush must have left Myers with a lasting impression, otherwise he might not have received an offer from the Warriors.
