The Golden State Warriors have officially announced their roster for the 2018 Summer League, offering young players a chance to showcase their skills.

The head coach of this lineup is going to be player-development coach Wille Green, who has served on Steve Kerr’s coaching staff since being hired in August 2016.

The team will first compete in the inaugural California Classic Summer League being held in Sacramento from July 2-5.

After that concludes, the team will travel down to Las Vegas to participate in the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2018 from July 6-17.

Out of the 17 players on the roster, 12 of them are rookies, highlighted by Jacob Evans III, who the Warriors selected 28th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Jordan Bell and Damian Jones are the two players participating who were on the postseason roster for the Warriors this past playoff run.

The other players on the Summer League team who have at least a season of NBA experience are Gian Clavell, Omari Johnson, and Josh Magette.

Clavell is a point guard originally from Puerto Rico who played college ball at Northwest Kansas and Colorado State.

He won Mountain West Player of the Year in 2017 but didn’t get drafted. He played 7 games for the Dallas Mavericks last season and averaged 2.9 points per game in 9.1 minutes per game.

Johnson is a forward who was born in Jamaica and played his college ball at Oregon State. He was not drafted in 2011.

He had success in the National Basketball League of Canada, where he was a two-time All-Star. He played in 4 games for the Memphis Grizzlies last season, averaging 5.5 points per game in 18.8 minutes per game.

Magette is a point guard who played Division II college ball at Alabama-Huntsville and left as the school’s all-time leader in assists. He was not drafted in 2012.

He was a G-League All-Star in 2017 and played in 18 games for the Atlanta Hawks last season, averaging 3.2 assists in 12 minutes per game.

Summer League gives young players a chance to really showcase their potential and hint at future contributions at the NBA level.

Last season the Warriors went 2-4 during Summer League action, and Patrick McCaw emerged as the team’s most potent threat.

McCaw played in 5 games for the team and averaged 20 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game, and 1 steal per game.

It’s going to be really interesting to see which players stand out amongst this group and if any surprising performances arise during these tournaments.
