The Golden State Warriors have four players representing the organization at the Team USA training camp in Las Vegas, which is more than any other NBA team. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson are both looking to make the final 12-man roster that will head to Spain later this Summer for the World Cup of Basketball. Harrison Barnes and Draymond Green were selected to be part of the Select Team and are on track to one day make the National Team roster. The Warriors have done a great job of cultivating their own talent over the years and the rest of the NBA is starting to take notice.

After being part of the 2010 Gold medal team in Istanbul, Curry is a lock to make this year’s roster and Thompson chances are looking good. According to Brian Witt of NBA.com, regardless of who makes the roster, having four Warriors competing in training camp is a good sign of things to come:

Regardless of who ends up making the final squad, if you’re there competing, it’s for a reason. The National Team has obviously seen a lot to like in all of the participants, and the fact that four Warriors are taking place should not only be an encouraging sign for all of #DubNation, but also give them extra reason to watch Team USA as they compete in the 2014 World Cup and beyond.

Curry is quickly emerging as one of the better players at this training camp and Thompson’s versatility on both ends of the floor gives him an advantage over players like Bradley Beal and DeMar DeRozan. Even if Thompson doesn’t make the final cut, he’s out there competing against some of the best shooting guards in the league and it’s a great way for him to measure himself against that type of competition. Green and Barnes can’t make this year’s team, but a good performance at this training camp and they could be in the running for the final roster in the near future.

The Warriors are entering the 2014-15 campaign with high expectations, which should be encouraging for a franchise that has not much success in recent memory. The Warriors have nailed it in the NBA Draft and have been very aggressive in acquiring players via trade to surround their home grown talent with the right pieces. If the Warriors are able to stay healthy, they are primed to be a championship contender for years to come.
