3. Drafting Draymond Green in the Second Round
A few years prior to 2012, the Warriors were known for finding hidden gems in either the D-League or later in the draft. This era of Warriors basketball seems to be the same, especially when you take in the fact that Draymond Green was picked 35th in the 2012 NBA Draft.
The Draft turned out to be disappointing, especially with the reaches in the first round. There are many players in the second round that have vanished from the league. Green continues to impress teams everywhere and is now the heartbeat of the current Warriors team.
He’s already rumored to be getting max-contract offers from teams such as the Detroit Pistons this offseason, which speaks volumes for a second round draft pick. Green would go in the lottery if they re-did the selections.
Green was always counted against in college and when he transitioned into the pros. Scouts questioned which position he would defend at an NBA level. Green now can defend all five and is a realistic candidate to win Defensive Player of the Year.
