Along with guarding some of the best point guards in the league, Thompson is often matched up with guys like James Harden in crucial games. The 6’7 sharpshooter holds his own on defense.
Thompson would be placed higher on this list if he were able to play smarter. Sometimes, he gambles and reaches when it’s unnecessary. He’s also bad at staying out of foul trouble, causing Steve Kerr to take him out of games when he commits them early.
Regardless, Thompson remains one of the best two-way players in the NBA. He is one of the few guys that can stop a player from scoring 20 points while scoring 20 himself in the same game.
The Warriors might start using Steph Curry more on star point guards this season, so look for Thompson reserve a little more energy and do even better on players his size.
