At this exact moment, Stephen Curry has 378 threes. That puts him a mere 22 away from reaching 400 made threes in a single season. In case you’re wondering, no player in NBA history has ever made 400 threes in a season, and no one had made 300 in a season before the Golden State Warriors point guard did so this season.

With just five games remaining, Curry needs to average 4.4 made threes per game in order to reach 400 for the season. Could he do it? Of course he could. This is a guy who has made 28 threes over the last four games alone, and if he were to repeat that proficiency then he’d top the 400 mark. What does Curry think about this chase, though?

From Rusty Simmons, columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle:

First off, that’s an amazing response. Most players would try to deflect the question in the hopes that their natural response is enough to dissuade any future asking. But not Stephen Curry. Oh no, he was blunt, honest, and up front about everything. If he’s sitting on 399 threes, he’s going to heave. And he will heave like crazy.

Secondly, can you blame him? No one should. The Warriors and Curry are hellbent on achieving historic success this season, and as the team sits just a few wins shy of a new single-season record, Curry is going to go out guns blazing in an attempt to shatter, and set, another record. It’s all he knows and you have to love it.
