The biggest thing about the Bay Area is the Silicon Valley. It’s no surprise that Stephen Curry getting involved with a start up. Being down to earth, Curry looked at the venture from a fan’s point of view and was interested in the idea of mixing basketball with social media.

Curry has joined CoachUp to help kids and their basketball game. From the mental aspect of support and confidence to honing the skills on the hardwood, CoachUp is there to assist. From William Alden of Buzzfeed, CoachUp has been around but approached Steph and convinced him to get in on the action:
According to Jordan Fliegel, CoachUp’s president, who first approached Curry about two years ago, the basketball star agreed to sign on during All-Star weekend in February of this year. Curry announced the partnership in late March. He took an undisclosed minority stake in the company and became an important adviser. (Though CoachUp launched in 2012, Fliegel says Curry is now a “co-founder.”)
Steph won’t look to throw his money, sit back, and bank off his name. He genuinely wants to be involved. In the same interview with Buzzfeed, he goes on to speak about being in the action:
“I want to be hands-on, I don’t want to just throw money someplace and see what happens. You kind of have to be a part of it. That’s what makes it genuine for me.”
Steph is a smart guy and knows technology is only going to expand. Residing in the Bay Area, its nearly impossible to stay away from the tech capital of the world.
Curry’s running mate, Klay Thompson is also involved in a “techy” basketball program called ShotTracker, a wearable technology that keeps track of makes and misses. To have NBA Champions invest and behind your brand is huge. Both of these guys have great personalitys and are beloved by the entire league (with the exception of the Cavaliers fans).
