Stephen Curry is from North Carolina and is never afraid to hide his roots. From the stories and inspiration behind his Under Armour signature sneakers to the history his father set for the Charlotte Hornets, the Curry name is always tied into Charlotte.
As a big football fan, it must be a happy place in the Curry household. Steph’s Warriors are 19-0 and his NFL team, the Carolina Panthers are 11-0. Both are the only undefeated teams remaining in their respective sports. Steph was asked about the Panthers, from David Newton of ESPN:
Reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry predicts the Golden State Warriors will lose a game before the Carolina Panthers, the only unbeaten team in the NFL.
He just hopes neither will happen until February.
“So that means the Panthers get their Super Bowl win,” Curry said following a shootaround in preparation for Wednesday night’s game against the Charlotte Hornets at Time Warner Arena.
The Panthers would be 19-0 if they remained unbeaten through the Super Bowl. The Warriors would have to be 48-0 to enter February unbeaten, easily surpassing the 1971-72 Lakers’ 33-game winning streak.
Is it realistic?
“Who knows?” Curry said. “Nobody thought we could start 19-0. Why not keep it going? There’s a lot of great talent in this league. We’re obviously probably not going to go 82-0, but you want to approach each game that way and see what happens.”
The possibility of 82-0 is still alive! In order for the Warriors to get to 20, they’ll have to get past the Hornets tonight. The Hornets organizations is honoring Dell Curry for his time as a player and broadcast commentator. Before the Panthers take on the New Orleans Saints, the Warriors will play again in Toronto on Saturday, the first of a back-to-back (their Sunday game begins after the Panthers).
