It looks like LeBron James isn’t the only basketball icon to come to Stephen Curry’s aid as the Golden State Warriors star gets slammed from every which angle by jealous old timers. You can now add Allen Iverson’s name to the list of players who have gone out of their way to support him.
The following is courtesy of Jessica Camerato, a Sixers insider for CSN Philadelphia:
Allen Iverson on Steph Curry: "He's incredible … He's different. He's something that we've never seen."

It’s pretty awesome that Iverson went out of his way to call Curry “incredible” and state that he’s something the league has “never seen.” That also seems quite honest and truthful. The league has never seen a player like Stephen Curry before. The way in which he dominates the game is unheard of.
Iverson and Curry are similar in some ways. Their meteoric rise was met with quite a bit of disdain at times because of the ways that they happened to excel. They broke the mold of what a player should be able to do, and also how impactful someone with some of their physical limits could be.
But Iverson wasn’t finished with his praise:
More Allen Iverson on Steph Curry: "It's crazy, me being the biggest Michael Jordan fan, to see somebody come around like this."

It’s almost taboo to mention players in the same breath as Michael Jordan, but Iverson’s insistence on putting the Warriors’ superstar into that conversation is something that’s quite remarkable. It speaks to the level of respect Curry has reached with some of his peers, and it’s something that you hope to see grow as his playing career carries on.
Curry won’t ever be Jordan, but he could be the new face of basketball for a new generation of talented youngsters around the world. With each wrist flick from beyond the arc and dazzling display of ball-handling, Curry carves his way into the memories of basketball-crazed fans everywhere. He might not be Jordan, but he might start something entirely new.
