As it currently stands, Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry has 382 made threes this season with just four games remaining. That puts him just 18 made threes shy of 400 for the year, and he’d have to average 4.5 made threes per game over those four contests in order to reach that mark.
Obviously, this record might not matter all that much since it will be tough to come close to this again, unless Curry himself opts to repeat this level of proficiency next season. That would be absurd, but Curry is absurd. He is the absurd nature of basketball right now, and his shot making is in a realm all by itself.
Curry only managed to shoot 4-of-14 from beyond the arc against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the overtime loss on Tuesday night. If he were to make four per game over the final four games, he’d finish with 398 made threes for the season. As Curry himself said, if he gets to 399 threes, he will chuck.
There’s no telling what the Warriors point guard could finish up at in the made threes department, but it will be a record so astronomical that it will have seemed wholly insane to even ponder how it even came into being. Curry has transcended basketball, and this season has been truly special. He sits on the precipice of 400 made threes, and he has a real shot to get there.
