Steph Curry is making a strong case for the NBA MVP this season. His team has the best record in the NBA and he has the numbers to earn the award. However, James Harden, LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook have impressive resumes as well and there is no clear cut winner this year.
Curry is having the best year of his career and while he deserves the award, he has his sights set on the Larry O’Brien trophy. In an interview with Dan Patrick, Curry was asked about the MVP debate. If he doesn’t win it, he believes LeBron deserves the award.
Patrick would go on to ask Curry about the rest of the candidates and which future he would rather have if he had to choose between Russell Westbrook, James Harden or Anthony Davis. Curry responded, “Anthony Davis all day long”.
Patrick and Curry were gushing about how good Davis will be in the near future. Curry then told Patrick that he predicts Davis will be an efficient three point shooter by the end of his career:
Just watching him shoot, you can tell he was a guard at one point growing up because he has those mechanics that you can’t really teach. I predict he will probably be a 40 percent three point shooter by the time his career is over. If you add that to his game, I don’t know what you do.
Curry is obviously very high on Davis, but can you blame him? Davis seems like he is next in line to take over the NBA. He is only 22 years old and already being considered for the NBA MVP. Davis dominates on both ends of the floor, all he has to do is stay healthy and he will be the face of the league at some point.
We know Davis was a guard before he got his growth spurt, but shooting 40 percent by the end of his career is quite a prediction from Curry. You have to take his word for it, Curry and Davis played together this summer for Team USA and Curry witnessed Davis’ potential first hand.
If there is one thing Curry has mastered is shooting, so you have to believe him. If it does happen, you have to feel sorry for the 29 other teams that have to face him for the next 12-14 years. The kid is already scary good and he is only going to get better.
