Lee finished a few times at the basket, but failed to take advantage of the open looks he got in this game. Also, a decent rebounding game, but feels like he should have dominated the boards in this contest.

Dorell was absent once again on offense but also made a few key defensive mistakes that allowed Richard Jefferson to get going. One has to wonder if the Warriors aren’t better off starting Klay Thompson or Brandon Rush at small forward…
Andris Biedrins, C 2-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 0 AST | 4 PTS | 0

Biedrins’ size and long arms gave the Spurs some problems, but his one-one-one defense against Blair and Duncan earned him a spot on the bench as both were able to beat him to the rim for baskets and get to loose balls at his expense.
Monta Ellis, SG 15-30 FG | 4-4 FT | 2 REB | 7 AST | 38 PTS | 0

Monta Ellis played the role of playmaker and scorer but shifted his role and simply became the leading man in the fourth quarter. With Curry in the locker room nursing an ankle, Ellis kept the Warriors close by scoring from multiple areas on the court but ran out of gas late after playing heavy minutes.

Stephen Curry, PG 7-11 FG | 3-3 FT | 3 REB | 8 AST | 20 PTS | +2

Stephen Curry’s defense was wildly unimpressive as he was repeatedly beat off the dribble; but his offensive contributions sure justified keeping him on the court as he made shots rain from all over the court despite facing some good defense at times.

Four Things We Saw

  1. The Warriors played some zone in this game and yet it was a complete disaster as the Spurs were able to get some open looks right at the rim as well as some open looks from 3-point range.
  2. The Warriors backcourt carried the offense in the first half and looked to do the same in the second, but they cooled off a bit and didn’t get much help from the rest of their teammates.
  3. Stephen Curry rolled his ankle in the second half against the Spurs and did not return.
  4. Klay Thompson only shot four-for-10 from the field but he is starting to look a little more confident with the Dubs. He converted shots from deep and also had a terrific right-handed finish at the rim against the Spurs big men.

    No end game, game plan equals total loss. We fought until the 4 minute mark and then the ball got really stagnant and Spurs picked us apart.

    how does steph get an A+? i mean, yeah, he had a pretty good offensive game, but i would think that A+ would be reserved for an all out dominating performance on both ends of the floor AND the win.
