LeBron James could be finally be making a decision in the next day or so, which will finally allow the rest of the NBA to move forward with their free agent plans. Everything is contingent on where James and Carmelo Anthony decide to go, but until it’s official, everyone must patiently wait and see how it all plays out. James has been rumored to be making a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, which will change the NBA landscape moving forward.
James wants to join a team that will give him an opportunity to continue chasing NBA titles and the Cavs are prepared to bring another star to Cleveland to compliment the king. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Cavaliers are interested in pursuing a trade for Kevin Love:
The Cleveland Cavaliers are pursuing a trade for Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star forward Kevin Love contingent on the signing of LeBron James, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The Timberwolves will demand Andrew Wiggins, the Cavs’ No. 1 overall pick from last month’s NBA draft, be a part of any proposed deal, sources told Yahoo Sports.
This would certainly make the Cavs an instant title contender in the Eastern Conference. James and Love together would make a powerful duo and the Cavs still have point guard Kyrie Irving, giving them their own version of the big three. The Minnesota Timberwolves would want number one overall pick Andrew Wiggins in a deal for Love, but that shouldn’t stop the Cavs from pulling the trigger.
The Golden State Warriors were once considered the favorites to land Love early in the off-season, but a deal never materialized. If LeBron does decide to return to his home state, the Warriors window of opportunity to acquire Love could quickly be closing. The next 24 to 48 hours will be very interesting and we can only hope that James makes a decision sooner rather than later.
