The Warriors are putting the old adage, “Out with the old, in with the new” to extensive use this off-season.  With the impending sale of the team, new logo, high draft pick and lots of move-able pieces on the roster this off-season is sure to keep all Warrior fans entertained.

With Chris Cohan close to finally relinquishing the team from his strangle-hold and allowing a new owner to come in to revitalize the franchise it’s a  foregone conclusion that the Warriors are finally headed in the right direction.  With close to a dozen groups reportedly expressing interest in purchasing the team it seems the sale may go through sooner than later.  The rumored favorite to purchase the team has long been Larry Ellison who has gone on record stating his interest in buying the team.  If it were up to Warrior fans, Ellison would be the new owner as he has the deepest pockets of all the groups involved and would bring instant credibility to the franchise.  With the initial bids due soon, we’re all on standby waiting to see how the situation plays out.

While the new ownership might be the most important change this off-season, the most visible change will be the new logo and brand the Warriors are introducing.  Starting today, the Warriors are transitioning from their current stale and goofy looking logo to a new more modern and aesthetically pleasing logo.  The draft lottery which takes place tonight at 5 p.m. marks the last official league sanctioned event in which the current Warriors logo will be used.  While there is no set date to unveil the new logo however, rumors persist the official unveiling will take place on draft night.  The most immediate change takes place on Warriors.com as the team is re-launching the site with a new design tonight.

The Warriors are hitting the social media market to get the word out about their new look as they will be giving one lucky fan an opportunity to win season tickets to this upcoming season.  The team will be releasing a contest which will take place via a game on Warriors.com with the end result being a season tickets awarded to the winner.

As the Warriors get ready to completely overhaul their look and operation, what better way to usher in these new change than to win the draft lottery and reverse the bad luck that’s plagued this franchise for years.  Warrior fans finally are getting what they deserve, “Out with the old, in with the new.”

The Cousins shadow:

DeMarcus’s shadow is already screaming obscenities at Nellie.

I think God wants this to happen. Or Satan. I know Chad Ford is feeling this. If the Warriors get the number three, number four, hell, even the number five choice, the hot head becomes a real possibility. He’s stark, raving, Telegraph Avenue. And he’s a low post fatty, the kind of player Don Nelson usually grinds into an unhappiness burger. To want him is to favor the amusing Warriors soap opera at the expense of Warriors success.  Unless…
DeMarcus succeeds and Oakland embraces him as the new outlaw. This happened with Stephen Jackson and the phenomenon was a lot of fun while it lasted. Cousins certainly has the talent, and Tim Kawakami could sure use the extra 1,000 columns.

The Cohan shadow:

Cohan’s currently suing his shadow for failure to pay Chris’s income taxes.

Cohan’s shadow is currently suing me for defamation because I insinuated a connection between the shadow and Cohan.
The Cohan regime is an embattled third world dictator, huddled in his presidential palace. The coup is underway, outside the gates, but General President Cohan could still orchestrate terms of surrender. In the meantime, he’s officially running Warriors nation, and anyone could face execution or deportation. Actually, in this extended analogy, one of the General President’s henchmen is running the show.

Anyway, this is an awkward pose for Warriors HQ. We think they’re on the way out, but no one knows when. We don’t quite understand who has the power, or how the undefined ephemeral status of such power will influence decisions.  Is Larry Riley a lame duck, or is Chris Cohan wringing a thousand more days from our souls? The draft is a collision of unknowns that determine GSW future. And sadly, is the best day to be a Warriors fan.
