Dub Nation has been waiting for a long time this. The Warriors are the NBA Champions for the first time in 40 years and the city of Oakland is loving it. Today, they finally got the opportunity to celebrate with the team during the championship parade.

Not every player got an opportunity to speak to the crowd. Klay Thompson might have preferred to be one of the players that didn’t have to give a speech, but the Splash Brother had to go up there. Thompson was surprisingly funny as he addressed the crowd and as he was thanking his family members, he made sure to give his mother credit for his shooting ability:

Thompson’s comment got a lot of laughs, especially since his dad was the number one overall pick. Thompson’s mom was a division one volleyball player, so Klay was blessed with great athletic genes. I wonder how Klay’s dad, Mychal, feels about his son crediting his mother. Mychal was a big man who was not known for his outside shooting, so maybe Klay was telling the truth.
Klay is usually reserved, but winning a championship changes people. Today, the All-Star was witty and got a lot of laughs as he stood alone in the podium. This is a young close knit group, which tells you that they will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
