Klay Thompson and the Warriors dominated the Los Angeles Lakers in an easy win on Thursday allowing Thompson to show his confidence on the floor. Scoring in a variety of ways, Thompson exemplified the experiences he gained while playing with some of the NBA’s bests over the summer. After the game, Bryant had done something unusual and complimented Thompson on his ability to score.
According to Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group, this new Kobe may have softened up and praised Klay:
Kobe Bryant: “Not many players can play like Klay Thompson.” Then listed the ways – shoot, post up, midrange, pull up, go left, go right.

Bryant isn’t known to send compliments to many opponents especially from the Warriors who play in the same Pacific division. Thompson easily dropped 25 points, sinking 9 of his 13 attempts. Five makes were coming from beyond the arc on six attempts. Coach Kerr acknowledged his shooting guard and agreed with Bryant’s assessment:
Steve Kerr on Kobe Bryant saying Klay Thompson has “the whole package”: “Coming from one of the great two guards of all-time. I agree.”

This year is already proving to be the first large stepping stone in Thompson’s career. In order to achieve greatness, he will need to achieve what Bryant has done five times – lead his team to win the NBA championship. Thompson is a Los Angeles kid and grew up admiring Bryant and to get praise like this, it can only balloon his confidence.
