NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder at Golden State Warriors

After a tough loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, the Warriors have another though match up; this time against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Warriors will look to start a new winning streak against an injury plagued team that got the reigning MVP and Westbrook back in their lineup. The Thunder have looked like their old selves and have won 7 in a row. In case you missed it, we have you covered:

1st Quarter

The Thunder came out very aggressive to start the game. The KD/Westbrook combo was active early and they took an early 8-4 lead. The Warriors had trouble converting easy buckets and kept getting rejected at the rim. The Thunder were rolling and quickly found themselves up by seven. The shots were falling for the Thunder and back-to-back 3-pointers gave Durant 13 points, but then he followed with another triple and the Thunder lead 25-11 midway through the first. It was quite ironic that the Thunder came out raining triples and the Warriors could not keep up. With a couple of Curry buckets, the Warriors were able to get it down to nine with a little less than three minutes left in the quarter. With two minutes left, the Warriors had already given up 38 points in the first, the most in any quarter they’ve played this season. The Thunder lead 40-32 at the end on one, Durant leads all scorers with 16.

2nd Quarter

Durant looked unstoppable and kept scoring at will. He already had 20 points with over nine minutes left in the second. The Warriors kept it within striking distance. Shaun Livingston came in and quickly made an impact. He’s really finding his place on this team. A Curry triple cut the lead down to one and it electrified the crowd. After being down most of the game, the Warriors finally came back to grab the lead with yet another bucker from Livingston. The Warriors then went on a three point barrage from Curry and Thompson and they quickly took a eight point lead with three minutes left in the half. Durant responded and kept the Thunder close. Both teams cooled off to end the quarter and the Warriors took a 65-63 into halftime. Curry led the Warriors with 19 points.

3rd Quarter

Both teams continued to play aggressive in the third quarter. Durant injured his foot in the final play of the half and did not start the third quarter. The game slowed down a bit for both teams and the Warriors increased their lead to five. Klay Thompson then decided to take over the game. Thompson scored five points and racked up two assists in a little over a minute. The Thunder are not the same team without Durant and they announced he wouldn’t return to the game. The Warriors have only committed six turnovers, which why they were able to come back and maintain the lead. Thompson once again left his mark by closing strong in this quarter, he kept scoring and finding his teammates open for the assists. The Warriors took a

4th Quarter

Not much scoring to start the final quarter. Livingston scores a pretty layup and gives the Warriors a five point lead. Although the Thunder were without Durant, Westbrook kept them within striking distance. The Warriors could not pull away and this game was still close. Westbrook made the Warriors pay and scored four points in a row, cutting the lead to one with about four minutes left in the quarter. Westbrook hit a shot to give the Thunder the lead, but Curry responded right back with a jumper of his own. The Warriors responded well down the stretch and took a five point lead. The Thunder couldn’t keep up with the Dubs and the Warriors won 114-109. Curry finished with a monster 34 points.
