NBA: Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets

The Warriors take on the Houston Rockets at Oracle Arena today. Even without Dwight Howard, the Rockets are still a very good team and their record shows it. If the Warriors want to win 14 in a row, it will take a complete game effort.

The Warriors are 18-2, the best record in the NBA as of today. You’ve probably heard this a hundred times by now, but this the best start in franchise history. Earlier today, ESPN Stats & Info provided an interesting history lesson about teams starting 18-2 or better in the last 50 years:

History tends to repeat itself and those statistics about previous teams starting 18-2 or better should make Dub Nation very excited. Out of the last 13 teams to accomplish the feat, 11 of them at least made the conference finals, which the Warriors haven’t experienced since 1976, when they lost to the Phoenix Suns 4-3.

The Warriors are on pace to finish with a high seed in the Western Conference, which will be key if they plan on making a deep post-season run. After enjoying regular season success the last couple of seasons, the Warriors are now focused on playing in June this year.
