1. Other than LeBron James and Kevin Durant, there is no player in the league as exciting to watch than Steph Curry. Curry plays the game with an unmatched enthusiasm and flair, which gives his opponent more stress than a man returning home to see his wife going through his cell phone.
On a nightly basis, Curry looks to put on a show through his shooting, ball-handling wizardry and passing ability.
2. Draymond Green looks poised for a monster season. Filling in for the injured David Lee, Green was a menace on the defensive end, as he harassed the Kings all night and cleaned up the glass in Lee’s absence. Green showed off his improved 3-point shot as he didn’t miss from long distance all night. Ok Ok, he was 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, limited amount of shots, but still a great start for Green.
3. Turnovers… Turnovers… Turnovers… The Warriors fetish for turnovers continued as they turned it over 22 times vs the Kings. Curry and Green led the team with 5 each with Klay added 4 turnovers of his own. This will be something to keep an eye on all season as Steve Kerr has repeatedly said the team has to do a better job of protecting the ball if they want to take the next step as a team.
4. The Warriors depth was on display last night as Steve Kerr played 12 guys vs the Kings with Nemanja Nedovic being the only active player to not get in the game. Andre Iguodala continued to come off the bench and played the most minutes (29 mins) of all the Warriors reserves.
Festus Ezeli played in his first regular season game in almost 18 months and looked good in the limited amount of time he was on the court. A healthy Ezeli gives the Warriors the physical presence they need coming off the bench. Shaun Livingston made his Warriors debut vs the Kings as he entered the game at the end of the 3rd quarter and played into the beginning of the 4th quarter.
5. Mo Speights gave the Warriors some much needed scoring punch off the bench as he contributed 16 points on 8 of 13 shooting. Speights got things going by hitting his first couple of jumpers, which was a positive sign since he couldn’t hit from mid-range all of last season. Speights also looks to be in better shape this season and gives Steve Kerr another threat coming off the bench.
