Klay Thompson was not the only player to receive a contract extension today. Today was the NBA deadline to prevent the players from the 2011 NBA Draft from entering restricted free agency and some teams were able to get it done. Alec Burks and Ricky Rubio both got deals done with their respective teams.
This day was definitely a treat for these three players, but others like Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leonard were not able to reach an agreement. They will now enter restricted free agency and have the opportunity to test the free agent waters. The teams have the final decision whether they want to match any offer the player recieves, but it just makes things more nerve wracking in the off-season.
