The Golden State Warriors continue their road trip by heading to North Carolina. The Charlotte Hornets will host the Warriors and their hometown hero, Stephen Curry. Curry has been phenomenal on this road trip and will look to put on a show his friends and family.
The Charlotte Hornets made lots of off season moves but have not been playing well. They continue to struggle as they ride a 7 game losing streak. If they didn’t defeat the Suns, they would be on an 11 game losing streak. They always compete hard and if the Warriors aren’t prepared, both streaks may end.
Players To Watch
Lance Stephenson
Remember when this guy slapped himself, flailed, and flopped to get a foul call? Yeah, we all do. This just shows what he’s willing to do to help his team win. During the Playoffs, he went viral when he blew into LeBron James’ ears to get into his head. It’ll be important to keep Stephenson away from the paint. He’s best when he puts his head down and attacks the basket. Keep him on the perimeter and limit his effectiveness.
Al Jefferson
Jefferson is easily the team’s best and most consistent player. Against the Blazers, Jefferson had 21 points, 14 boards, and three assists but wasn’t enough to keep up with the opposition. He’s been doing everything he can but the Hornets struggle on both ends of the floor as a team. Andrew Bogut will have his hands full with Big Al; it’ll be a fun matchup to see.
Keys To Victory
Continue To Score
The Warriors have too many weapons on offense and it would be a waste not to utilize them. First off the point guard is a pretty good shooter named Curry; he has been terrific and leads the league in made three pointers. In 109 attempts, he’s made 49. When the entire team gets involved, it’s even easier for the Warriors to win. Against the Utah Jazz, Curry had 8 points but six other players scored double figures an they blew out the opposition.
Defense
The new Kerr-era has been so promising. The Dubs have shown what championship teams always do, play hard on both ends of the floor. Their offense obviously is phenomenal but their defense is no joke. Golden State is hungry and the players understand a high powered offense isn’t enough to get to the next level. Keeping Jefferson, Stephenson, and Kemba Walker will be key in the game.
