Andrew Bogut is out indefinitely after being diagnosed with a fracture rib following the Warriors’ 117-119 loss in Portland on Sunday night.

Both Mark Jackson and Bogut deemed the center’s status as “indefinite”, but judging from their body language and the way Bogut described the pain, he is most likely out for the remainder of the season.

Bogut says he injured the fifth rib on his right side, which if aggravated again could possibly puncture his lung. The Warriors now put their faith in 18-year veteran Jermaine O’Neal and Marreese Speights to anchor the frontcourt. Jackson said he will go small — with Lee at center and Draymond Green or Harrison Barnes at the 4 — depending on the matchups as well.

The injury comes at the worst possible time for the Warriors, who have two games remaining in the regular season with possible playoff matchups against the Los Angeles Clippers or the Oklahoma City Thunder looming. The Warriors are 9-4 without Bogut this season and 4-1 when Jermaine O’Neal starts at center.

Festus Ezeli has begun 1-on-1 drills but will not see the floor until he is fully healthy. Ezeli has missed the entire season after recovering from offseason knee surgery. Mark Jackson did not sound optimistic with the idea of giving Hilton Armstrong or Ognjen Kuzmic significant minutes going forward.
