Drake’s on tour right now, and at his stop in Oakland, he figured he could pump up the crowd even more than they already were by bringing out Kevin Durant to bask in the adoration of the same people who’re going to be cheering for him on the Warriors.

Drake’s one of the biggest basketball fans amongst entertainers, and his other tour dates have featured appearances from star NBA players.

Derrick Rose joined him on stage at Madison Square Garden, and LeBron James made an appearance at a show in Columbus, Ohio.

Not only does Drake deploy some individuals sure to get a warm reception from the crowd, but strengthens his ties with the basketball world in the process.

The Warriors might be his prefered team other than the Raptors, and that’s a huge compliment, given that he only seems to associate with winners.

Remember when the Miami Heat won the championship a few years back and Drake tried to get into the locker room to celebrate with the team?

The team said no, which set a powerful precedent for celebrity fans around the league who probably dream of being able to pop champagne with the team they root for.

Then again, I’m thinking that it was probably more of an individual slight towards Drake than a blanket indictment of celebrity fans.

It’d be hard to imagine Jack Nicholson being denied entry to the Lakers’ championship celebration in their locker room.

Given that the Clippers have long lingered in the shadow of the Lakers, there’s no way the team would rebuke the loyal Billy Crystal from partaking in some postgame celebration.

You better believe Spike Lee is getting in that Knicks locker room after they win a championship, although given the state of the Knicks, that’s a dilemma they don’t have to worry about facing for a long time.
