The Team USA Men’s Basketball squad officially begins its quest for a gold medal today at the Rio Olympics.
They will play Team China in a Group A matchup, and should have a lot of confidence in their ability to win.
Team USA played Team China twice in their exhibition schedule leading up to these Olympic games.
On July 24, Team USA defeated Team China by a resounding score of 106-57. This game was most noteworthy for the Staples Center crowd booing Kevin Durant and Draymond Green.
On July 26, the matchup between these 2 teams shifted to Oracle Arena, where the Warriors’ trio got a much warmer reception.

It was Durant’s first game at Oracle Arena since joining the Warriors, and the crowd helped reassure him that he made the right choice by signing with the Warriors.
The outcome of the game itself was never in question. Team USA defeated Team China soundly once again 107-57.
Team China features former lottery pick Yi Jianlian as well as a pair of 2nd round picks from the 2016 NBA Draft.
Zhou Qi was drafted 43rd overall by the Houston Rockets, while Wang Zhelin was drafted 57th overall by the Memphis Grizzles.
There are 6 teams in Group A of this tournament: USA, China, Serbia, France, Australia, and Venezuela.

Team Australia has defeated Team France 87-66, and as of now, that’s the only final result available from Group A.
Team USA should deservedly be heavy favorites in this tournament, as they have the deepest lineup of any team participating.
What’s remarkable is that numerous players turned down an opportunity to play for this team, yet they’ve still been able to field a squad that has looked invincible during its exhibition games.
Durant, Green, and Klay Thompson will try to win a gold medal together before embarking on the Warriors’ quest for an NBA championship this season.
