The entire basketball world is grieving the sad passing of Nate Thurmond. The legendary center succumbed to leukemia at the age of 74.
Thurmond was greatly admired as not only a fantastic rebounder, shot-blocker, and defensive presence on the court, but as an equally kind and thoughtful person off the court.
He was named one of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players in 1996, and served within the Warriors’ organization as a “Warriors Legend & Ambassador.”
The outpouring of sorrow has not only come from important figures within the Warriors organization, but also from players and fans all around the world.
Thurmond was truly one of a kind. He could defend legendary centers with impeccable ability, and whenever his name is evoked by those who personally knew him, it’s nothing but admiration and respect for the human being he was.
R.I.P Nate Thurmond. You will be missed for not only your basketball skills, but the strength of your character and the kindness you displayed to those around you.
