It was a big day for the Golden State Warriors. An introductory press conference was held to announce the signing of Kevin Durant.
During the conference, Durant emphasized that a big reason why he chose to sign with the Warriors was because of the authentic, friendly atmosphere they exuded when they met with him.
Durant is excited to start the new chapter of his life in the Bay Area, and the team is equally overjoyed to have him.
Some negative news was released today about a lower projected salary cap for the 2017-2018 season, and it could impact the Warriors’ ability to re-sign Durant if he opts out next offseason.
That’s a concern for down the road, though, as the Warriors are doing everything in their power to win a championship this upcoming year.
There were other big roster moves in the news for the Warriors today, although they came in the form of players leaving.
Leandro Barbosa agreed to a 2 year deal worth $8 million to play for the Phoenix Suns, the team he won Sixth Man of the Year for in 2007.
Festus Ezeli also decided to sign with the Portland Trailblazers. The deal is for 2 years and worth $15.2 million.
Rumors are circulating about David Lee returning to the Warriors, but nothing is imminent at this point.
The Warriors welcomed a new player to the team today, but were also forced to say goodbye to two key components of their legendary squad.
