Jerry West has been involved with the NBA since 1960 and he’s seen the game transition and evolve time after time. After all these years, West continues to remain relevant by assisting and guiding organizations into the right direction. Now, the respected figure is an executive board member of the Warriors organization.

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors has been bashed by tons of former players and Jerry West is chiming in with his two cents. According to Baxter Holmes of ESPN, West acknowledges the gameplay today versus how it was back in his heyday, while speaking highly on Steph’s game.

Although the game was more physical, West still believes that Steph would have thrived back then too. While the NBA is becoming “softer” and the rules for flagrant fouls are becoming more in favor of keeping players safe, Curry often gets no respect from the officials. It’s incredibly interesting for someone of West’s stature to notice and mention the lack of calls for the unanimous MVP.

West has been a huge part of the Warriors decision making. When the possibility of trading Klay Thompson for Kevin Love appeared, West was strongly against trading Thompson. Success quickly came the following season as the Warriors finished 67-15 en route to their first NBA Championship in 40 years.
