If the Golden State Warriors are to going into the playoffs with their best odds of advancing to and winning the NBA Finals,
‘homecourt advantage would surely help. The San Antonio Spurs are undefeated at home, something the Warriors no longer are, and tonight’s game at Oracle is supremely important.
For the Warriors to gain homecourt advantage, they’ll need to upend the Spurs this evening in order to secure that spot. Doing so gives them the best chance at winning their second consecutive championship. It’s something the fanbase has built up to all season long, and the homecourt is definitely pivotal at this juncture.
From Tim Bontemps, columnist for the Washington Post:
With four games remaining, the task for the Warriors to become the best regular season team of all-time is simple: they have to win them all. But when the Warriors host the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night on national television, there is a more pressing matter at hand: securing home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.
Golden State has four games remaining, two of which are against San Antonio. The other two are games against the depleted Memphis Grizzlies, but the ones against the Spurs are the ones that seem to matter the most. Thursday’s game is the most important. Win that, and the Warriors have homecourt. Lose it, and the battle is on.
The season has reached its critical point. Only a week remains, and there is still plenty of work to be done for the players and the coaching staff. As April churns on and the playoffs draw near, Golden State must stay vigilant in their endeavors in order to secure the homecourt advantage that will be so precious.
