Klay Thompson’s father, Mychal Thompson, doesn’t necessarily agree with Chicago Bulls icon Scottie Pippen when it comes to picking a possible matchup between the 72-win Bulls and a record-setting Golden State Warriors squad. Then again, can you blame him? He is the father of a player on the team, after all.

When approached by TMZ on the street to discuss Pippen’s comments, the elder Thompson responded pretty much how you would expect him to respond. He thinks his son’s Warriors team would win a seven game series against the Bulls namely because of their outside shooting, and it’s hard to disagree with that.

From a staff report on CSN Bay Area dot com:

“I heard that, and it doesn’t surprise me,” Thompson told TMZ Sports. “That’s the way he’s supposed to feel. They’re one of the greatest teams ever, Scottie is one of the greatest players ever, and that’s the way he’s supposed to feel. But I think the Warriors would win.”

When asked how long he thought the series would go, Thompson responded that he felt it would take the full seven games in order to determine a winner, but he then reiterated that the Warriors’ shooting would be what makes them a tough out in any potential series. Even for as great of a defensive team as those Bulls happened to be.

Obviously, we’ll never be able to see these two historically dominant teams face off, unless you play NBA 2K, but it’s always interesting to wonder what would happen. Would Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen shutdown Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, or would the Splash Brothers torture them from long range? We’ll never know, but like former players, we always love to assume we do.
