Earlier in the week, Klay Thompson claimed his first Players of the Week award. The Warriors coach earned an award too. Steve Kerr won the Western Conference Coach of the Month for March, 2016. This is his third time winning the award, more than any coach in Warriors franchise history; it’s only Kerr’s second season at the helm.
For the month, the Warriors went 15-2 and continued to set new records. Last season, the Warriors finished with 67 wins. Before March ended, the team already had 68 and counting. In the Eastern Conference, the Charlotte Hornets’ Steve Clifford earned the award.
With seven games left in the season, the Warriors have 68 wins and are on pace to break the Chicago Bulls’ 72-10 regular season win record. Tonight, the Dubs will host the Boston Celtics.

STEVE KERR NAMED WESTERN CONFERENCE COACH OF THE MONTH
Warriors Posted A 15-2 Record In March & Set A Franchise Record For Single-Season Wins
OAKLAND, CA – Golden State Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr has been named NBA Western Conference Coach of the Month for games played in March, the league announced today. Kerr led the Warriors to a league-best 15-2 record during a month that saw the team establish franchise records for single-season wins (68) and single-season road wins (32) while setting the NBA record for consecutive regular-season home wins (now 54-straight).
At 68-7 (.907), the Warriors own the best record through 75 games in NBA history and are the sixth team ever to win 68 games in a single campaign. Golden State joined the Chicago Bulls, who followed an NBA-record 72-win season in 1995-96 with 69 wins in 1996-97, as the only teams in NBA history to win at least 65 games in consecutive seasons.
During the month, Golden State led the league in scoring (114.0 per game), assists (28.8), point differential (+10.1) and three-point field goals (13.4), establishing a new NBA-record for single-season threes (now 975). The Warriors have not lost more than two games in any single month this season.
The award is the third such career honor for Kerr, giving him more monthly awards than any other coach in Warriors history (the NBA began giving out the award in 1982-83), and is the second honor for the Warriors this season after Interim Head Coach Luke Walton guided the team to a perfect 19-0 start in October/November. Kerr previously earned the accolade in January 2015 and March 2015.
Charlotte Hornets Head Coach Steve Clifford earned Coach of the Month honors in the Eastern Conference.
