ESPN is now doing this weekly thing where they rank the NBA’s best players from this season. The second installment of that publication came out this morning, and there should be no surprise that Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry was still in that top spot on the list.
After all, Curry has been a whirlwind of force and exceptionalism this season as he’s been a one-man wrecking crew laying waste to the rest of the NBA landscape as everyone looks on hopeless as can be. That’s what he’s done, and he should be treated with the respect that he justly deserves.
From Chris Broussard, a senior writer for ESPN dot com:
It would take nearly a month’s worth of shoddy shooting and careless ballhandling to knock Steph from his perch atop the league, and true to form, he didn’t let his cold streak last even two days.
Even though the Warriors lost in Los Angeles to the lowly Lakers on Sunday night, that still shouldn’t be held against Curry himself or even the team. Things like that happen from time to time. It doesn’t take away from Curry’s overall greatness and impact this season. Not even in the least.
As the season enters the home stretch, which means there’s only about a month to go, we still have to marvel at just how dominant and iconic Curry has been this entire season. That level of brilliance rightfully earns him the top spot in the ESPN list that came out today. There’s no other player who should be there.
The Most Valuable Player Award race even seems as if it’s not a race at all. It’s just going to be Curry getting crowned as the king of the land unanimously, most likely. He’s been the best player in the league this season, so his placement on this ESPN list shouldn’t come as a great shock to anyone.
