With the ever-increasing talk about Kevin Durant possibly leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder when he is slated to become a free agent this offseason, the Golden State Warriors have been a popular target destination for people because of their dominance and ability to possibly make space for him.

Over the last little while, it seems like Durant to the Warriors has started to pick up more and more steam. In fact, it’s led to some notable players from past and present pondering whether or not it’d be a plausible move. Count Rick Barry, the former Warriors great, among them.

From Diamond Leung of  the Bay Area News Group:

In theory, Barry is correct. If Kevin Durant has the opportunity to join the Golden State Warriors, then he’ll be hard-pressed to pass up on that. Golden State would provide him with a winning environment right off the bat, one that could help Durant win a title that he desperately craves in a system that suits his every need.

Durant is one of the game’s premier talents, a small forward capable of scoring at will against any defender at any time. Combined with his passing and rebounding, he holds a special place as one of the three best players in the game today. Adding him to the Warriors would almost seem unfair.

Still, that’s a long way off from now as Golden State is looking to hoist a world championship for the second straight season. And those’ll have been without Durant’s help. When the offseason hits, we’ll see just how much both parties want to do business with each other. Until then, let’s enjoy the ride.
