In the NBA’s latest video advertisement to honor Chinese New Year, Stephen Curry enjoys a meal with Jeremy Lin, James Harden, the Houston Rocket’s mascot, Clutch, and a Chinese family. In that ad, Stephen Curry is wearing the Chinese New Year themed, slate colored, sleeved jerseys.

Last year, the Dubs unveiled these jerseys and wore them in four regular season games (3-1 record). They were only one of two teams to wear this type, the other being the Rockets.  The Lunar New Year starts on February 7th and you can find these jerseys back on the court starting February 3 against the Washington Wizards. On February 9, 2016, the Warriors will have a special Lunar New Year performances pre-game, at halftime, and during timeouts.

Team To Hold Chinese New Year Celebration At Oracle Arena Tuesday, February 9

OAKLAND, CA – The NBA Champion Golden State Warriors will first wear their 2015-16 season Chinese New Year uniforms on the court during a road game  on Wednesday, February 3 at Washington in honor of the start of Lunar New Year, held February 7 – 13. The Club will sport the Chinese-themed threads again during Lunar New Year on Tuesday, February 9 when the Warriors hold their official Chinese New Year Celebration, presented by Lucky Buddha Beer, at Oracle Arena when they face the Houston Rockets. To conclude the 2016 Lunar New Year, the Club will wear the Chinese New Year uniforms for the final time during the 2015-16 season on Friday, February 19 at Portland.

On Tuesday, January 26, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Warriors Guard Klay Thompson will first show the new 2015-16 threads when he joins the Adopt an Alley Way Program in Chinatown in San Francisco to celebrate Lunar New Year and acknowledge Chinese tradition by touring San Francisco’s oldest alley way in Chinatown, Ross Alley. Thompson, who will be wearing the new uniform, will join local students from Galileo High School, along with Executive Director of Chinatown Community Development Center Reverend Norman Fong, and start the tour at Ross Alley Gallery (41 Ross Alley). The group will also stop at Jun Yu’s Barbershop for a Erhu Chinese instrument performance, Performing and Martial Arts Center for a lion dance, and end at the Fortune Cookie Factory where Thompson will participate in making traditional Chinese fortune cookies.

“We have an amazing following from our Chinese fans both here in the Bay Area and abroad,” said Warriors President and Chief Operating Officer Rick Welts. “Hosting a Chinese New Year celebration at Oracle Arena and wearing the uniforms to honor Lunar New Year is a great way to not only connect with the Asian culture, but thank our fans for supporting us throughout the season.”

Last season, the Warriors were one of two teams to wear Chinese New Year uniforms with the Warriors unveiling the new look at an industry-first event at the Betty Ong Rec Center in San Francisco with Warriors forwards Harrison Barnes and Draymond Green, in addition to Welts and San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee. During the 2014-15 season, the Warriors wore the uniforms on February 20 against the San Antonio Spurs, February 24 at Washington, March 2 at Brooklyn and March 4 against Milwaukee, posting a 3-1 record.

The Warriors road game on Wednesday, February 3 at Washington will be broadcasted on CCTV, in addition to ESPN, CSN Bay Area and streamed on NBC Sports Live Extra. The Warriors home game on Tuesday, February 9 against Houston will also be broadcasted on CCTV, in addition to TNT.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is celebrating and sharing in the joy of the Lunar New Year Feb. 4-22 with millions of fans in China, the U.S and around the world.  A highlight of this year’s celebration is the launch of a new star-studded NBA Chinese New Year television spot, “Dining Table,” featuring the Warriors’ Stephen Curry, the Houston Rockets’ James Harden and the Charlotte Hornets’ Jeremy Lin sharing a special Chinese New Year reunion meal with a Chinese family. Additionally, the league’s Chinese New Year activation will include the Warriors, Rockets and Washington Wizards wearing special Chinese New Year uniforms paying tribute to Chinese culture; 51 live games broadcast and streamed by 10 broadcasters in Greater China, showcasing all 30 NBA teams for the first time; and the Chinese New Year Celebration Season of Giving initiative for underprivileged communities in China.

The Warriors, who were one of the first NBA teams to launch a Weibo account, weibo.com/warriors, have nearly 2 million followers on Weibo, the highest in the NBA and regularly are one of the top teams in the league in engagement metrics on the platform including impressions, reposts, comments and likes. In addition, the Warriors were one of the first NBA teams to have a Chinese Website, china.nba.com/warriors, and regularly conduct Q&A’s on Weibo and Tencent.

Created by adidas, the Warriors Chinese New Year uniforms feature the Slate as its primary color, the same color the Warriors wear on Slate Saturdays where the team wears their Slate Alternate Uniforms for most Saturday home and away games throughout the 2015-16 season. The Chinese New Year uniform also feature red and yellow throughout the uniform representing Chinese heritage with the yellow also representing the Warriors. The front of the uniform reads “Warriors” in Chinese and features the year of the animal that appears in the Chinese calendar on the sleeve and the waistline of the shorts, this year featuring the year of the monkey.

Swingman jerseys and additional Chinese New Year merchandise are available today, January 19 at warriors.com and will be available at the Warriors Team Store at Oracle Arena on Friday, January 22. Chinese New Year jerseys and additional merchandise will also be available for purchase in China later this season.  Warriors online merchandise sales set an all-time Warriors record during the month of December this season, up 104% compared to the previous record (November 2015), with in-arena merchandise sales up 117% this season compared to this same time last season.

The Warriors sixth annual Chinese New Year Celebration held on Tuesday, February 9 will feature special Lunar New Year themed pre-game, halftime and time-out break performances in addition to having the Warriors Dance Team and Warriors Hoop Troop outfitted in Chinese New Year merchandise.

The Warriors ended the 2014-15 season by capturing the 2015 NBA Championship for the first time in 40 years, becoming one of only five teams to capture four or more NBA titles, and recorded a franchise-record 67 wins during the regular season.
