The Golden State Warriors will open their journey to a second consecutive championship on Tuesday, October 27, against the New Orleans Pelicans. That team will be led by Anthony Davis on the floor and Alvin Gentry on the bench. That will be the game to see as the Warriors will raise their banner and receive their rings.

In November, the Warriors will take on the Pacific Division six times by playing all members of the division twice but the Suns and Lakers. The end of November will welcome a 7 game road trip. Their next longest road trip (six games) will be after the All-Star Weekend in Toronto.

It’s finalized, on Christmas the Warriors will take on LeBron James and the Cavaliers in an NBA Finals rematch. Game time will be at 2 o’clock at the Oracle Arena. The last four games of the season will be against Playoff caliber teams, the Spurs and Grizzles (twice each).

Club’s 2015-16 Season, Presented By Kaiser Permanente, Tips Off At Oracle Arena On October 27 Versus New Orleans;

Golden State Hosts NBA Finals Rematch Versus Cleveland On Christmas Day;

Docket Includes Franchise-Record 25 National TV Appearances

 

OAKLAND, Calif. – The National Basketball Association announced today that the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors 2015-16 season, presented by Kaiser Permanente, will tip off at home against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday, October 27, in a rematch of the teams’ First Round series in the 2015 NBA Playoffs. 

The Warriors open the season with four consecutive games against their 2015 Western Conference playoff foes, with road games against the Houston Rockets on October 30 and New Orleans on October 31 before returning home to face the Memphis Grizzlies on November 2. The Warriors will meet the Cleveland Cavaliers for the first time on Christmas Day at Oracle Arena in a rematch of the 2015 NBA Finals, and then again in Cleveland during the league’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration on January 18. 

After winning a franchise-best 67 regular-season games and capturing their first NBA title in 40 years, the Warriors are slated to make a franchise-record 25 national television appearances this season, with five (5) games scheduled on ABC, 10 on TNT and 10 on ESPN. The Warriors’ ABC lineup tips off with their Christmas Day meeting with the Cavaliers and includes a trio of games on the debut season of “Saturday Night NBA on ABC,” with road matchups against the L.A. Clippers on February 20, Oklahoma City Thunder on February 27 and San Antonio Spurs on March 19, in addition to a Sunday matinee in Los Angeles against the Lakers on March 6.

Highlights of the team’s TNT docket include the season opener versus the Pelicans on Tuesday, October 27, marking the return of Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry, who helped the Warriors to the 2014-15 NBA title as the associate head coach on Steve Kerr’s staff, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Day showcase against the Cavaliers on Monday, January 18. In addition, the TNT slate features home games against the Lakers on Tuesday, November 24; the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, February 9; the Thunder on Thursday, March 3; the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, March 29; and the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, April 7.

Golden State’s 10 ESPN appearances include visits to Oracle Arena by the Clippers on Wednesday, November 4; the Chicago Bulls on Friday, November 20; the Indiana Pacers on Friday, January 22; the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, January 27; the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday, February 6; the Pelicans on Monday, March 14; and the Boston Celtics on Friday, April 1, in the return of two-time All-Star David Lee to Oracle Arena. In addition to their 25 combined appearances on ABC, TNT and ESPN, the Warriors have a franchise-record nine (9) games scheduled on ESPN Radio, as well as nine (9) currently scheduled to air on NBA TV, the league’s 24-hour cable network. 

Golden State finishes the season with 15 of its last 21 games at home, beginning with a season-long six-game homestand from March 7-16. The team has a pair of seven-game stretches on the road, including a trip from November 30 – December 12 and a stretch from February 10-27 that begins with a road game before 2016 All-Star Weekend in Toronto and continues with a six-game trip after the break. The Warriors will play a league-high 20 back-to-backs, but will not play four games in five nights at any point during the season for the first time in franchise history.

Tip-off time for the majority of Golden State’s home games during the 2015-16 season will be 7:30 p.m., with four exceptions: the team’s Christmas Day game against Cleveland at 2:00 p.m.; a 6:00 p.m. start on Saturday, February 6 versus the Thunder on the eve of Super Bowl Sunday, which will take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara the following day; an Easter Sunday meeting with the Philadelphia 76ers at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 27; and an additional 5:00 p.m. start against the Trail Blazers on Sunday, April 3. 

The 2015-16 NBA schedule will once again use a 30-team format (two conferences of 15 teams each, with three five-team divisions within each conference) in which teams will play each opponent within their division four times, while playing six of the remaining 10 teams in their conference four times, and the four remaining teams in their conference only three times. Teams will also play all 15 opponents outside of their conference two times each. For 2015-16, the Warriors will play only three games against the following Western Conference opponents: New Orleans (two at home, one away), Oklahoma City (two at home, one away), Houston (one at home, two away) and Minnesota (one at home, two away).
