Draymond Green has said numerous times that winning a championship isn’t validating enough. The money doesn’t do it for him either. It’s a business, but the feelings and emotions of winning trumps all. Recently, Green had mentioned his one selfish goal, to play for Team USA in chase of the Olympic gold.
According to Marc Stein of ESPN, two members of the Warriors have been extended invitations for August. Draymond has been invited and is one step closer to achieving his next goal as well as Harrison Barnes:
USAB has extended invitations to Chicago‘s Jimmy Butler, Memphis ‘ Mike Conley, Golden State‘s Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes, Orlando‘s Tobias Harris and Victor Oladipo and Utah‘s Trey Burke to its Aug. 11-13 camp on the campus of UNLV.
Green and Butler have a real opportunity to crack Mike Krzyzewski’s 12-man roster. Being so versatile and having the ability to guard multiple positions will help Draymond’s case. Don’t count Barnes out of the running as he can fit the mold for the powerhouse team. Next Summer, the US will compete in Brazil for the 2016 Olympic Games.
They will look to join the Splash Brothers who played in 2014 en route to a World Cup gold medal. The practice and competition within the US brings the best out of players. Learning from one another and pushing to be better will only benefit the Golden State Warriors when they return to NBA competition.
