Steph Curry used his Friday to support Oakland native Andre Ward as he made his return to the ring at Oracle Arena. Curry was part of Ward’s entourage as he made his entrance to the ring. Curry was looking sharp, but still managed to wear his Finals hat.

Curry carried one of Ward’s championship belts as they walked towards the ring. Jordan Ramirez captured the moment on Vine:

It’s only right that one champions walks out to the ring with another champion. Both are representing the city of Oakland and both have made the Bay Area proud.

After being absent from the boxing scene for about 19 months, Ward returned to the ring to face Paul Smith from England. The super middleweight champion is looking to reclaim his dominance in the sport and it starts with Smith, who is seen as a tune up fight.

Curry was not the only Bay Area athlete at Oracle Arena on Saturday night. San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, was also in attendance and spoke to the MVP for a bit. Fallon Smith of CSN Bay Area captured the moment on video and tweeted it out:

Hopefully Kaepernick was taking advice from the World Champion, because the Niners are not the same team that went to three straight NFC title games.

Ward would go on to win the fight in the ninth round after Smith’s corner threw in the towel because Ward was having his way with Smith in the ring. It’s been a good week for the city of Oakland, first the Warriors, then Ward.
