Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green were having the time of their lives and it was well deserved. They can be seen spraying champagne everywhere with the Larry O’Brien trophy in hand. The coaches were taking part in the celebration as well. Steve Kerr, Ron Adams and Alvin Gentry worked very hard to make this a reality and that trio deserves a lot of credit.
Gentry will now move on to coach Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans. During the postgame celebration in the locker room, Gentry looked at one of the NBA TV cameras and tells Anthony Davis that the Pelicans will be there next year. Video courtesy of cjzerovids:
As you all may know, Gentry will be the Pelicans’ head coach next season, so it makes sense that he is sending a message to Davis. Now, Gentry has the experience to pass on to The Brow and the rest of the Pelicans. Gentry is making a bold prediction, then again the champagne might have got him drunk.
Kerr and general manager Bob Myers hear Gentry’s claim, and both of them jokingly asked him to leave. The Warriors had just won the title, so the coaches were just having some fun. By the way they interact you can tell that the coaches had great chemistry as well. Gentry will be missed, he was the offensive coordinator and now the Warriors will need to replace him.
Anthony Davis is a monster, but the Pelicans are not quite good enough to make this type of run, which is why you can’t take Gentry seriously. It will be fun to play against the Pelicans next year, good luck coach Gentry, you’re a world champion now.
